6. Analytical tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses the functions of Google Analytics web analysis service. This service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses cookies. These are text files which are saved on your computer and make it possible to produce an analysis of how the website is being used. Any information produced by these cookies regarding how this website is used is generally transferred onto a Google server in the USA and saved.

Google Analytics cookies are saved in accordance with Art. 6, Para. 1 (f) of the GDPR. The Website Provider has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its marketing.

IP anonymisation

We have activated an IP anonymisation function on this website. As such, prior to transmission to the USA, your IP address will be truncated by Google within the Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, for compiling reports on website activity, and for providing other services relating to website activity and Internet usage to the website operator. Google will not associate the IP address transferred by your browser as part of Google Analytics with any other data held by Google.

Browser plugin

You can prevent the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to access the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the data generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) from being sent to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Commissioned data processing

We have signed an agreement with Google regarding commissioned data processing, and apply the full scope of the German data protection authorities’ strict regulations in our use of Google Analytics.

Google Analytics Remarketing (Doubleclick)

Our websites use the features of Google Analytics Remarketing combined with the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and DoubleClick. These services are provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

This feature makes it possible to link target audiences for promotional marketing created with Google Analytics Remarketing to the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. This allows advertising based on your personal interests that has been identified based on your previous usage and surfing behaviour on one device (e.g. your mobile phone) to also be displayed on other devices (such as a tablet or computer).

Once you have given your consent, Google will associate your web and app browsing history with your Google Account for this purpose. This will enable any device that signs in to your Google Account to use the same personalized promotional messaging.

To support this feature, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated IDs of users that are temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data in order to define and create audiences for cross-device ad promotion.

You can permanently opt out of cross-device remarketing/targeting by turning off personalized advertising in your Google Account; to do so, follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

The association of the collected data in your Google account shall performed exclusively on the basis of your consent, which you can provide or withdraw via Google (Art. 6, para 1 (a), GDPR). For data processing procedures that are not associated in your Google account (e.g. because you do not have a Google account, or because you have objected to such association), the data shall be collected in accordance with Art. 6, para 1 (a) of the GDPR. This constitutes a legitimate interest because the Website Provider has an interest in the anonymised analysis of website visitors for advertising purposes.

For more information and the data protection provisions, please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising program provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).

As part of Google AdWords, we use a process known as “conversion tracking”. When you click on an ad provided by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is placed on your computer. Cookies are small text files that your Internet browser stores on your computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification of the user. Should the user visit certain pages of the website when the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the website will be able to tell that the user has clicked on the ad and proceeded to the page in question.

Each Google AdWords advertiser receives a different cookie. As such, these cookies cannot be tracked using the website of an AdWords advertiser. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords advertisers who have opted for conversion tracking. The advertisers are told the total number of users who have clicked on their ad and been redirected to a conversion tracking tag page. However, the advertisers do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can opt out of this easily by disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie in your browser settings. This will exclude you from the conversion tracking statistics.

“Conversion cookies” are saved in accordance with Art. 6, Para. 1 (f) of the GDPR. The Website Provider has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its marketing.

For more information on Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking, please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

You can set your browser to notify you when cookies are going to be saved to you device, to require your permission every time a website wishes to save cookies on your device, to accept cookies in certain cases, to refuse them generally, or to delete them automatically when you close your browser. Deactivating cookies may restrict the functionality of this website.
